Catholic Confirmation Retreats 2008-09 RETREAT THEME DESCRIPTIONS: Discipleship. This retreat is usually used as a first retreat or only retreat for a Confirmation group. It focuses on Jesus' call to "Come, follow me." The theme explores in depth three stages of discipleship: curiosity, challenge and commitment. The retreat wraps up affirming the candidate's decision to be a full member of a community that roots itself in the growing edges of discipleship. We Got the Spirit. This retreat is used as a second retreat for a Confirmation group. It focuses on the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit. The retreat wraps up empowering candidates to use their gifts and recognize the results of the Spirit at work in their lives. WHO COORDINATES THE RETREAT? The retreats are lead by a Youth Room staff person. Groups are facilitated by adult volunteers. HOW DO I REGISTER MY YOUTH FOR THE RETREAT? For a master flyer/permission slip form to duplicate for your group members, click here to request one.) For individuals to register, see the "How do I sign up" paragraph below. Churches that will register 3 or more from their own parish must provide an adult volunteer as a group facilitator. This facilitator must also have completed a background check through the parish. COST OF RETREATS: A retreat will cost $30/person and includes lunch and materials for the day. There is no cost for facilitators. (1 facilitator for every 6-8 participants). (Extra facilitators may pay $5 for lunch.) WHO CAN SIGN UP? Retreats are open to youth in 9-12th grade in any parish. HOW TO SIGN UP.. Click here to download a "Parental Authorization Form." Each participant must turn in a form signed by a parent along with a $30 retreat fee by the deadline. Participants should bring something to write with and a bible when they attend the retreat.
